The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education considers students with disabilities from the policy formulation stage.
On the 16th, the Office announced that it will introduce 'Universal Design in Educational Policy' as a follow-up measure to the 'Three-Year Plan for Special Education Activation.'
The core idea is to apply the concept of Universal Design from architecture to the field of educational administration, ensuring that educationally vulnerable groups, including students with disabilities, are considered from the initial stages of all policy development.
To this end, the Office plans to establish a Universal Design in Educational Policy consultative body involving all departments and operate a checklist.
In particular, by operating a monitoring team that reflects the opinions of field members who actually carry out education, the Office aims to enhance the effectiveness of Universal Design in Educational Policy.
Kim Sun-hee, head of the Special Education Division at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, stated, "Universal Design in Educational Policy is the first of its kind nationwide," adding, "We will promote balanced educational policies without distinction between disabled and non-disabled individuals."
