Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kang Eun-hee) was selected as an ‘Excellent Institution’ in the 2023 Comprehensive Civil Service Evaluation jointly conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
The ‘Comprehensive Civil Service Evaluation’ is conducted annually on 306 institutions including central administrative agencies, metropolitan and provincial offices of education, and metropolitan and local governments to proactively provide services desired by the public and improve any shortcomings.
This evaluation was conducted by assessing five categories (17 indicators): civil service administration strategy and system, operation of civil service systems, handling of civil complaints through the People’s Petition System, handling of grievance complaints, and civil service satisfaction, and assigning institution evaluation grades (A to E) based on the overall score ranking.
The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education achieved scores higher than the average in all evaluation categories, and especially received a perfect score in the People’s Petition System complaint handling category for indicators such as speed and appropriateness of complaint processing, earning the highest ‘A’ grade.
It also received high evaluations for actively resolving group grievance complaints such as securing safety on school external commuting routes by operating the ‘Children’s Commuting Safety Council’ in cooperation with the relevant local governments, police agency, and parent organizations.
Kang Eun-hee, Superintendent of Daegu Education, said, “This selection as an excellent institution is the result of all staff’s multifaceted efforts to improve civil service.” She added, “We will continue to communicate with education consumers and do our best to provide the best civil service.”
