Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, announced that the 'Real Treasure Festival,' the world's largest treasure hunt festival held last November at the old Gyeonggi Provincial Government building (located in Paldal-gu, Suwon City) and the Paldalsan Dulle-gil trail, has been registered in the Guinness World Records, and vowed to develop it into a global festival.

On the 16th, Governor Kim posted on his social media, "The treasure hunt campaign held at the old Gyeonggi Provincial Government building has been registered in the Guinness World Records," adding, "It is the first festival planned directly by a local government in Korea."

He continued, "3,040 people participated in this unique festival that used immersive technology and smartphones to find virtual treasures in an old building," and added, "It is an innovative case that provided economic vitality to small businesses around the old government building and entertainment for the residents."

In particular, he promised, "We will nurture this festival to become a world-class event representing Gyeonggi Province and a place people want to visit."

Earlier, on November 12 last year, Gyeonggi Province held the 'Real Treasure Festival,' the world's largest treasure hunt festival using digital immersive technology, at the old Gyeonggi Provincial Government building (located in Paldal-gu, Suwon City) and the Paldalsan Dulle-gil trail.

3,040 people participated in the event, surpassing the previous Guinness World Record of 2,732 participants set in Ottawa, Canada, in 2017.

Participants naturally explored every corner of the old government building and the Paldalsan Dulle-gil trail while searching for a total of 200 hidden treasures, and received various prizes such as social economy products, Baedal Teukgeup coupons, and gifticons based on the number of treasures found and their rankings.

On the day of the event, Gyeonggi Province collaborated with nearby small business owners to operate a merchants' association beverage booth and provided a 10% discount coupon from the merchants' association as a treasure hunt prize.
