Incheon City Supports Installation Costs of Eco-Friendly Boilers for Vulnerable Groups... Saves 440,000 KRW Annually

Incheon City announced on the 16th that it will support the installation costs of eco-friendly home boilers, which have a high nitrogen oxide (NOx) reduction effect and high energy efficiency, to improve air quality and reduce heating cost burdens for vulnerable groups.

The city plans to support a total of 1,750 units at 600,000 KRW each for low-income and vulnerable households, and the project will end once the budget is exhausted. The eligible eco-friendly boilers must be condensing gas boilers with a gas consumption of 70KW or less and certified with an environmental label.

These boilers are equipped with reduction devices and are characterized by high energy efficiency because they reuse the heat from exhaust gases once more.

The average nitrogen oxide (NOx) emission concentration of general boilers is 173 ppm, whereas eco-friendly boilers average 20 ppm. In particular, in terms of energy efficiency, general boilers average 76-83%, while eco-friendly boilers exceed 92%, allowing for annual heating cost savings of up to 440,000 KRW.

If you wish to install an eco-friendly boiler, you can visit the relevant district office or apply online (www.ecosq.or.kr/boiler). Since 2017, the city has provided approximately 81.4 billion KRW in subsidies to distribute about 12,100 eco-friendly boilers.

An official from Incheon City stated, "Installing home eco-friendly boilers has the effect of reducing greenhouse gases, as well as lowering fine dust and heating costs," adding, "We plan to focus on supporting installation costs for low-income and vulnerable groups."
