Yeongdeungpo-gu's 'Warm Winter Campaign' Raises Record 2.6 Billion Won... Achieves 131.8% of Goal

Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it has achieved the highest-ever fundraising amount in the "2024 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign," which was conducted over approximately three months starting last November.

The "Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign" is a representative winter project carried out annually to spread a culture of sharing and help neighbors in need, with fundraising activities jointly conducted by Yeongdeungpo-gu and the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest.

In this campaign, the district raised a total of 2.63 billion KRW worth of donations and goods (920 million KRW in cash donations and 1.71 billion KRW in goods), exceeding the initial target of 2 billion KRW by 131.8%.

Despite the difficult economic conditions such as the recession and steep inflation, many companies, organizations, and individual donors from various sectors participated with one heart and mind, resulting in a total of 1,669 contributions that shared warmth together.

In particular, this year, many people expressed their warm hearts in various ways, including residents who collected their small welfare benefits to donate to neighbors in greater need and anonymous donors who left cash and goods without revealing their names.

Additionally, the district implemented several measures to promote the "2024 Warm Winter Campaign." ▲A "Love Temperature Tower" and a "Donation Angel Photo Zone" were installed inside the government office to attract residents' attention, ▲"Our Neighborhood Sharing Campaign" was conducted in 18 local communities, and ▲events such as the "Happy Together Box Making" were held in collaboration with the Yeongdeungpo Parish Council and Hope Friends Korea Food for the Hungry, all contributing to achieving 131.8% of the original fundraising goal.

Donated goods such as rice, ramen, and heating supplies were delivered to vulnerable groups facing difficulties within the district through local community centers and social welfare institutions.

Cash donations will be used for educational expenses for low-income children and youth, emergency living expenses for crisis households, and will also be utilized for discovering additional welfare blind spots and establishing welfare care networks, as well as for launching new welfare projects.

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, "I sincerely thank all donors who have become a strong support so that marginalized neighbors around us can spend a warm winter," and added, "We ask for continued support for the Warm Winter Campaign and will do our best to create a Yeongdeungpo that walks together with the vulnerable."
