Sinsung-sik 22.5%·Sobyung-chul 22.2%... 0.3%P Difference

Frame Government Ruling Party Judgment Theory Highest at 61.5%

The 22nd National Assembly election for the Suncheon·Gwangyang·Gurye·Gokseong (Gap) constituency, scheduled for April 10, is showing a fierce competition between two leading candidates.

According to a recent poll commissioned by KBC Gwangju Broadcasting to the polling agency Research View, former Suwon District Prosecutor Shin Seong-sik received 22.5%, and current National Assembly member So Byeong-cheol received 22.2%, showing a close race within the margin of error with a 0.3% point difference.


Following them are Son Hun-mo, head of Lee Jae-myung’s Suncheon campaign headquarters during the 20th presidential primary, with 12.7%; former National Assembly member Seo Gap-won with 9.7%; Lee Seong-su, chairman of the Progressive Party Jeonnam Provincial Party, with 9%; Kim Moon-su, special advisor to the Democratic Party leader, with 7.8%; Cheon Ha-ram, supreme council member of the Reform New Party, with 6.7%; and former Vice Minister of Unification Kim Hyeong-seok with 1.2%. Other candidates accounted for 1.2%, no preferred candidate 4.6%, and undecided 2.5%.


Among supporters of the Democratic Party, Shin Seong-sik received 27.5%, So Byeong-cheol 26.6%, Son Hun-mo 14.2%, and Seo Gap-won 11.7%, also showing a close race within the margin of error.


Regarding the election frame agreement, the government and ruling party judgment theory was the highest at 61.5%, followed by the simultaneous judgment of the two major parties at 17.7%, and the 586 activist judgment theory at 5.2%.


Proportional representation party support was 61.7% for the Democratic Party, 10.9% for the Progressive Party, 8.3% for the Reform New Party, 5.4% for the People Power Party, 3.8% for the New Progressive Alliance, and 2.8% for the Green Justice Party.


This poll was conducted by KBC Gwangju Broadcasting through Research View over two days, December 11-12, targeting 500 adults aged 18 and over in the Jeonnam Suncheon·Gwangyang·Gokseong·Gurye (Gap) constituency. The survey method was an ARS automated response survey using a structured questionnaire, with a response rate of 6.7%. As of the end of December 2023, weighting was applied by gender, age, and region according to the national resident registration population ratio (cell weighting). The sampling error is ±4.4% points at a 95% confidence level. For more details, refer to the Central Election Poll Deliberation Commission website.
