Hong Ik-pyo: "Yoon, Unable to Hold Press Conference While Engaging in Illegal Election Campaigning"

Targeting Yoon Searching for Battlegrounds, "Stop Election Manipulation"
"Focused on Protecting Power... Election Commission's Judgment Needed"

Hong Ik-pyo, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, pointed out, "President Yoon Seok-yeol is avoiding questions and unable to hold press conferences, while illegally campaigning across the country."

At the policy coordination meeting held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 15th, Floor Leader Hong criticized, "Public officials cannot engage in activities that influence elections, and the president is also a public official subject to the same legal restrictions," adding, "It is very concerning that (President Yoon) is spreading a culture of government authority election interference in an instant."

He said, "I believe the Central Election Commission's judgment is necessary on this matter," and emphasized, "It is necessary to restrain and refrain from actions that could influence the election during this (pre-election) period." This criticism is interpreted as targeting the nationwide on-site livelihood discussions that President Yoon presides over weekly. Visiting constituencies considered battlegrounds was pointed out as 'government authority election interference.'

Floor Leader Hong criticized, "Since the launch of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, the country's finances have been messed up, and only populist pledges are being poured out," adding, "They seem to have no regard for people's livelihood and the economy, focusing solely on protecting their power and 'winning the general election.'"

He continued, "I believe the public will carefully observe this," and said, "President Yoon Seok-yeol must immediately stop attempts at government authority election interference, and I hope the Election Commission will make a judgment on this matter."
