The utility pole in front of Sanghyeon Elementary School in Sanghyeon-dong, Suji-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do will be removed.

Yongin City announced on the 15th that the project to remove and underground the utility poles on the school route of Sanghyeon Elementary School students has been selected for the '2024 Green New Deal Project' led by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

The undergrounding project area covers approximately 700 meters from the Sanghyeon Elementary School intersection to the entrance of Sosilbong Park. A total budget of 2.2 billion KRW will be invested in the project. Korea Electric Power Corporation will support 50%, the government 20%, and the remaining 30% of the budget will be borne by the city. With this project selection, the city plans to complete the design within this year and start construction next year.

A city official said, "We have promoted the undergrounding project to ensure the safe commute of children and to create a pleasant urban environment," adding, "We will pay close attention to minimizing inconvenience to citizens and ensuring the project proceeds as scheduled."
