18 Representatives Including Festival, Tourism, Culture, and Residents
Discussing Strategies for Rebooting as a Premium Festival
Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced on the 13th that it has formed a Festival Promotion Committee to ensure the successful hosting of the 58th Yeosu Geobukseon Festival.
The Festival Promotion Committee is composed of 18 experts from related fields, including representatives from festivals, tourism, culture, and local residents, to bring change and development to the Yeosu Geobukseon Festival.
At the first meeting, the committee members discussed the direction and basic plan for this year’s Geobukseon Festival and shared various ideas to relaunch it as a premium festival.
Unlike last year, Yeosu City plans to operate the festival at two locations this year: Yi Sun-sin Square and Geobukseon Park, each featuring distinctive content.
Additionally, the festival will include an airshow performance by the Air Force Black Eagles, expanded traditional games, and a children’s play experience zone, making it a festival that all generations can enjoy together.
At the meeting, Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong said, “We expect the committee members to play a role in developing the Yeosu Geobukseon Festival into a festival that reflects historical significance and unique characteristics through innovative changes and efforts,” and added, “The city will also actively support the festival so that all citizens can empathize with and enjoy it.”
Meanwhile, the 58th Yeosu Geobukseon Festival is scheduled to be held for four days from May 3 to 6. Along with Tongjeyeong Gilnori, diverse and new experiential and exhibition-type content will be prepared for citizens and visitors to participate in directly.
