Geumcheon-gu, 434 Urban Garden Plots (30,000 Annually) for Lease

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that from February 15 to 27, it will lease garden plots at the Geumcheon Urban Agriculture Experience Center to residents and local organizations.

The district operates the 'Geumcheon Urban Agriculture Experience Center' so that residents can cultivate and harvest crops with their families and neighbors, enjoying healthy leisure time.

The experience centers include ▲ Anyangcheon Urban Agriculture Experience Center (719-5 Doksan-dong, near the left bank of Geumcheonhan-naegyo Bridge) ▲ Gwangmyeong Urban Agriculture Experience Center (332 Haan-dong, Gwangmyeong City), totaling two locations.

The garden plots at the Anyangcheon Urban Agriculture Experience Center are available to residents registered in Geumcheon-gu during the application period, with a total of 380 plots leased at one plot (7㎡) per household. Seniors aged 65 and over (75 plots) and persons with disabilities (25 plots) who have difficulty applying online will be recruited separately from the general public.

The Gwangmyeong Urban Agriculture Experience Center is operated for institutions and organizations such as educational institutions, welfare facilities, and volunteer groups, leasing a total of 54 plots with up to two plots per institution or organization. To prevent misuse where individuals operate plots under an organization’s name, applicants must submit an operation plan for the experience center.

The leasing fee for both Anyangcheon and Gwangmyeong experience centers is 30,000 KRW per plot annually. The fee includes all costs necessary for operating the experience centers, such as fertilizer and seasonal seedlings.

Individuals or organizations wishing to lease plots can apply through the Geumcheon-gu Office website’s ‘Integrated Reservation Service.’ Seniors aged 65 and over (born before January 1, 1959) and persons with disabilities (holders of disability certificates) who have difficulty using the internet can also apply in person at the district office’s Parks and Greenery Division.

Participants will be selected not on a first-come, first-served basis but through a random computerized lottery. The lottery will be held on March 7 in the presence of 2 to 5 observers selected from among the applicants. Results will be posted on the district office website and individual notifications will be sent to those selected.

The Geumcheon Urban Agriculture Experience Center is scheduled to open on March 30 and operate until the end of November. The district plans to offer various events for individuals and organizations leasing plots, including ▲ agricultural education by urban agriculture experts ▲ provision of seasonal seedlings ▲ and a garden photo exhibition.

Mayor Yu Seong-hoon of Geumcheon-gu said, “We hope you create joyful memories while gaining the rewarding experience of cultivating and harvesting crops through the Geumcheon Urban Agriculture Experience Center.”
