It has come to light that high-end hair dryers placed in the women's sauna of a newly built apartment complex located in Gangnam are being replaced with relatively inexpensive hair dryers due to frequent thefts. The same model of hair dryer was also installed in the men's sauna of the apartment, but there have been no thefts there, drawing a comparison between the two.

On the 14th, a post titled "The Outcome of Installing Dyson Hair Dryers in Apartment Sauna Community Facilities" was uploaded to an online community, sparking attention. The attached photo appears to be a notice circulated throughout the apartment complex by the community operations manager regarding the theft of hair dryers from the sauna. The Dyson hair dryer (Supersonic) mentioned in the notice is a high-end product priced at around 500,000 KRW as of February 2024.

The operations manager stated, "We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the theft of Dyson hair dryers placed in the women's sauna of our apartment," and disclosed the current status of the hair dryers. Initially, 33 hair dryers were installed in the men's sauna and 44 in the women's sauna. However, the women's sauna experienced 7 thefts and 6 repairs, leaving 31 units in stock, whereas the men's sauna still has the original 33 units.

Accordingly, the operations manager explained, "The personal Dyson hair dryers in the women's powder room are being replaced with Unix hair dryers." He added, "A total of 25 units have been replaced so far, and additional replacements will be made once more hair dryers are received." He further noted, "Dyson hair dryers that have been replaced (including those repaired) will be used as substitutes if any break down."

The operations manager also apologized, saying, "Since there are no CCTV cameras inside the sauna, we posted notices about theft prevention, but we deeply regret that we were unable to do our best to prevent theft incidents." He continued, "We apologize once again for failing to thoroughly manage the stolen hair dryers. To enable more detailed management, we will attach serial numbers to the existing installed dryers and cooperate with sauna cleaning staff to continuously work on preventing recurrence."
