'Ansan Naongi Friend, Purungi' Created to Teach Children the Importance of the Environment
11 Hidden Pictures of Seodaemun-gu Promotion Character 'SeoChi' in the Book Provide Fun
Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seongheon) announced on the 13th that it has published an environmental education picture book for young children set against the backdrop of Ansan (鞍山) and Hongjecheon in the area.
The book, titled "Ansan Naongi Friend, Pureungi," tells the story of the Naongi family, personified cats, who raise awareness and understanding of the environment through fine dust and eco-friendly tea.
Additionally, the book contains 11 hidden illustrations of 'Seochi,' Seodaemun-gu's promotional character, providing readers with the fun of finding them.
This is the second environmental picture book following "Please Take Care of the Hongjecheon Dorongi Family," first published by Seodaemun-gu in October 2022, and was produced by a five-member public-private-academic council.
The council included a superintendent from the Seoul Western Education Support Office, the director of the Environment Education Research Institute for All, the president of the Seodaemun-gu National and Public Daycare Center Association, a teacher from Seoul Hongje Elementary School, and an official from the district office's Climate and Environment Division.
The district will distribute 420 copies of this picture book free of charge to local daycare centers, kindergartens, and small libraries. Related teaching guides will also be provided to help teachers and parents with environmental education.
Furthermore, audio books and e-book files produced through residents' talent donations will be uploaded by the end of this month on the district office website and the Seodaemun Happy Green Center blog, making them accessible to everyone.
Lee Seongheon, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, "I thank everyone who helped produce this picture book and hope that it becomes a small seed that helps children appreciate the preciousness of the natural environment."
