Gangjin-gun Aims to Secure 200 Billion KRW in Pure National and Provincial Funds... Active Public Project Participation

Secured 4.9 Billion KRW for 7 National and Provincial Government Funded Projects in January

Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do, has actively worked since the beginning of the year with the goal of securing 200 billion KRW in pure national and provincial funds, successfully obtaining 4.9 billion KRW from seven public contest projects. The total project cost amounts to 7.3 billion KRW.

According to Gangjin-gun on the 13th, the county secured central government funds of 2 billion KRW for the Climate Response Urban Forest Creation Project, provincial funds of 1.8 billion KRW for the Jeonnam YOUNG Nong (Young Farming) Smart Complex Creation Project, central government funds of 1 billion KRW for the Blockchain Intensive Expansion Project, and combined national and provincial funds of 960 million KRW for the Forest Watershed Management Project, among other funds from central ministries and Jeonnam provincial public contest projects.

Although the New Income Horticulture Specialized Complex Creation Project and the Life-Closely Forest Creation Project, which were applied for, unfortunately did not succeed, plans are in place to supplement the lacking parts and reapply.

Gangjin-gun also plans to identify projects essential to the region for the Local Special Account Projects (provincial autonomous accounts) applications due by the 14th, visiting the relevant departments of Jeonnam Province to actively explain the project details and necessity to secure as much funding as possible.

In addition, in preparation for the first half special grant application expected in May, the county is proactively investigating local pending projects and disaster projects, and plans to ensure that the applied projects are reflected through prior consulting on the discovered target projects.

Furthermore, new national fund proposals and public contest projects for 2025 have been identified since the end of last year, and with the reorganization of departments in charge, Gangjin-gun plans to accelerate efforts to secure the largest-ever national and provincial funds through holding reporting meetings and capacity-building training.

Gangjinwon, the county governor, stated, “Given the harsh financial reality with a fiscal independence rate of 7.8% and the need to advance scattered local pending projects, securing national and provincial funds is urgent,” adding, “We will do our utmost to achieve the goal of securing 200 billion KRW in pure national and provincial funds.”
