Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) is conducting the "Dobong-gu Single-Person Household Support Project Contest" to proactively address the complex issues of the rapidly increasing single-person households.
The contest targets social welfare facilities interested in single-person household support projects within the region, as well as non-profit organizations implementing projects for single-person households. The focus is on local institutions to discover projects that residents can genuinely feel the impact of.
The contest content includes customized projects for single-person households that reflect their needs and regional characteristics, which are not similar to or overlapping with existing projects. Two institutions will be selected in total, with up to 5 million KRW supported per project.
A district official stated, "We plan to select projects mainly focused on practical support to improve the quality of life for single-person households."
The application deadline is February 23, and detailed information about the contest can be found on the Dobong-gu website (Notice Board → Announcements) or Dobong Welfare.
In addition, the district is implementing various policies to ensure a happy life for single-person households. To listen to their voices and reflect them in policies, a survey was conducted last June to identify differences in needs by age group and region, as well as figures related to social isolation and the risk group of reclusive individuals.
The current direction of Dobong-gu’s single-person household policy is set as follows: ▲ Establishment of a target discovery system ▲ Activation of networks ▲ Establishment of a mental health cooperation system ▲ Strengthening support for socially isolated and reclusive youth ▲ Support for activities of middle-aged single-person households. Programs to strengthen social networks for single-person households and support projects based on their interests are being promoted.
Furthermore, to provide information about the single-person household projects conducted by the district, the "Dobong Single-Person Household Moa Talk Talk" Kakao channel is operated, enabling real-time two-way communication via 1:1 chat. Programs are also conducted in connection with the Dobong-gu Single-Person Household Support Center and welfare centers.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, "The district is continuously preparing many programs, including the single-person household contest project, to support the steadily increasing single-person households every year, cooperating with the Single-Person Household Support Center and welfare centers. We will continue to carefully manage and support single-person households living in Dobong-gu to ensure they lack nothing."
