Expanded Flood Control Capacity + Comfortable Waterside Spaces... Ulsan City Launches Local Stream Maintenance Project

6 Rivers in Buk-gu Jeongja and Sangancheon, Ulju-gun Jungri and Seosacheon

Ulsan City is launching a river maintenance project to expand flood control capacity.


On the 12th, Ulsan City announced that it will promote the "Local River Maintenance Project" this year to prevent disasters through increased flood control and to create a pleasant river environment.


This project involves maintaining six rivers?Jeongjacheon and Sangancheon in Buk-gu, and Jungnicheon, Seosacheon, Oesacheon, and Juwoncheon in Ulju-gun?as well as 10.7 km of associated facilities by 2026. The project implementers are Buk-gu and Ulju-gun.


To this end, Ulsan City plans to first allocate a budget of 6.8 billion KRW to Buk-gu and Ulju-gun in February.


The total project cost is 38.546 billion KRW, which will be prepared according to the cost-sharing ratio between Ulsan City and the respective districts and counties. Currently, Buk-gu and Ulju-gun are conducting detailed designs and land compensation for each river maintenance project.


An official from Ulsan City said, "We will devote efforts to the project not only to prevent disasters by increasing flood control capacity but also to create a pleasant riverside space loved by citizens."


Ulsan City plans to establish a comprehensive maintenance plan for 100 local rivers in the Ulsan area (total length 436.28 km) by October 2025 for efficient river management and operation.
