Jeonnam Naju City announced on the 8th that it conducted a ‘Clean Holiday Campaign’ together with the National Public Officials Labor Union Naju Branch in celebration of the Lunar New Year holiday.
This campaign was organized to prevent corruption that may occur during the holiday period and to raise public officials’ awareness of integrity.
A city official stated, “This was promoted to establish public service discipline that could easily be disrupted before the holiday break and to create a consensus for spreading a culture of integrity,” adding, “We distributed integrity promotional materials and encouraged active participation in complying with the Anti-Graft Act, such as not giving or receiving holiday gifts.”
Naju City plans to send text messages to administrative experience clients and related organizations in four major areas?construction and service contracts, subsidies, taxation and administration, and permits and approvals?until the 13th, urging them to join in fostering a culture of integrity during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Additionally, the city will post a ‘Integrity Alert’ on government office LED billboards and internal administrative networks to emphasize the prohibition of bribery and acts that undermine the public service atmosphere by those involved in duties before and after the holiday.
In particular, Naju City, which rebounded to a grade 3 in the comprehensive integrity evaluation in 2023, plans to implement various policies this year to improve integrity, starting with reading the integrity declaration at the beginning of the year, as well as hosting integrity live sessions and the Integrity Golden Bell quiz contest.
Mayor Yoon said, “Integrity is a fundamental duty of public officials, so we will do our best to enhance employees’ awareness of integrity,” and added, “Let us work together with labor and management united to establish a culture of integrity within the organization.”
In response, Branch Chief Lim said, “We will take the lead in establishing a culture of integrity and fostering a healthy public service environment.”
