Gyeongbuk Mechanical Technical High School, 21 Current Students and 24 Graduates Accepted by Samsung Electronics

Gyeongbuk Mechanical Technical High School (Principal Kim Jong-gu) achieved a remarkable result in the 2023 Samsung Electronics DS (Semiconductor) division high school graduate recruitment, with 21 current students and 24 alumni finally accepted.


The 45 students who were finally accepted will join the company in mid-February and receive basic training.


Gyeongbuk Mechanical Technical High School boasts excellent employment results, producing an average of 19 current student successful candidates over the past three years, with 15 in 2021, 21 in 2022, and 21 this year successfully employed by Samsung Electronics.

As corporate recruitment methods have recently shifted towards vocational basic competency assessments and job competency evaluations, Gyeongbuk Mechanical Technical High School operates the ‘Meister High School Competency Certification Program’ to cultivate talents with proper character and job skills desired by future society and companies.


The ‘Meister High School Competency Certification Program’ is an educational program where students set and achieve their own goals in areas such as vocational basic skills, vocational professional skills, foreign language skills, and character development. In the first year, students cultivate basic character education and vocational basic skills, and in the second year, they enhance their major skills along with detailed employment preparation.


Finally, in the third year, customized interview and practical training are conducted according to the student’s competencies and aspirations, and systematic guidance is provided by linking learning-centered field training.


Jung Min-hyuk, a student from the Precision Machinery Department who was finally accepted by Samsung Electronics, said, “There were difficult times while preparing for employment, but thanks to the school’s systematic employment program support and the encouragement of teachers, I was able to join the company I dreamed of.”


Kim Jong-gu, principal of Gyeongbuk Mechanical Technical High School, said, “We will continue to actively support our students so that they can grow into talents equipped not only with vocational basic and professional skills but also with character, and be employed by the companies they hope for.”


In addition to Samsung Electronics DS, Gyeongbuk Mechanical Technical High School has achieved a high employment rate of 95.2%, with 43 students employed by large corporations such as POSCO (4), POSCO Future M (3), HD Hyundai Electric (4), HD Hyundai Construction Equipment (3), and Toray Advanced Materials (3), 8 students employed by public enterprises such as Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power and Korea Railroad Corporation, and 63 students employed by excellent mid-sized companies such as Onsemi Korea, Ajin Industry, and Haesung DS.
