Hyundai Motor Securities predicted on the 8th that Hanmi Semiconductor would benefit as TSMC and SK Hynix form an artificial intelligence (AI) alliance.
Researcher Kwak Min-jung of Hyundai Motor Securities stated, "TSMC will handle some of the production processes for SK Hynix's HBM," adding, "SK Hynix will be responsible for some of the packaging processes." He further explained, "HBM4 requires advanced FinFET processes for the logic die," and "the logic die production is planned to be outsourced to TSMC for manufacturing using fine processes."
Researcher Kwak emphasized, "HBM production facilities are still mostly outside the scope of the U.S. administration's export controls," and "for CXMT, the need to secure related equipment early has increased, making the Chinese market a significant growth opportunity for Hanmi Semiconductor."
He analyzed, "Based on Hanmi Semiconductor TCB's overwhelming technological superiority, there is a high possibility of expanding new HBM customers both domestically and internationally," and "recently, SK Hynix has been receiving orders from HP and DELL through HBM price increases, further expanding SK Hynix's customer base." Additionally, he predicted, "investment by hyperscaler companies and demand for in-house chip development will strengthen Hanmi Semiconductor's order momentum."
