On the 8th, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that a total of 44,281 vehicles across 48 models manufactured or imported and sold by Hyundai Motor Company, Mercedes-Benz Korea, BMW Korea, Honda Korea, and MAN Truck & Bus Korea were found to have manufacturing defects and will undergo voluntary corrective actions (recalls).
Hyundai Kona SX2, totaling 18,664 units, will be recalled starting from the 15th due to a design error in the battery connection wiring protector, and 246 units of Nexo will be recalled from the 14th due to a manufacturing defect in the airbag inflator.
Mercedes-Benz models including the E350 4MATIC, totaling 12,521 units across 22 models, will be recalled starting today due to insufficient durability of a component (impeller) inside the fuel pump. Honda CR-V Hybrid, with 2,080 units, will also be recalled from today due to a design error in the battery cable.
BMW models including the 528i, totaling 8,826 units across 19 models, have been under recall since the 2nd due to insufficient durability of the variable valve timing system fixing bolts. The variable valve timing system is a device that adjusts the timing of valve opening and closing according to the engine's rotational state.
Since the 7th, MAN Truck TGM Cargo and three other models totaling 1,944 units have been recalled due to assembly defects in the fuel filter heater circuit board. The fuel filter heater is a device that prevents the solidification of some fuel components (paraffin-based) at low temperatures.
Whether a vehicle is subject to recall and specific defect details can be checked by accessing the Automobile Recall Center website and entering the vehicle number or chassis number.
