Gyeonggi Suwon City operated a 'Traditional Market Day' at Buk Suwon Market on the 7th in celebration of the Lunar New Year holiday.
Traditional Market Day is an event where the public sector takes the lead in using traditional markets to revitalize them.
Departments of the city hall (offices, bureaus, divisions, centers, and teams) and collaborating organizations form one-to-one sisterhood ties with traditional markets and voluntarily use the markets on designated days each month.
On this Traditional Market Day, Hwang In-guk, the 2nd Vice Mayor of Suwon City, and about 20 employees from the Urban Policy Office participated.
The Urban Policy Office staff purchased products using Onnuri gift certificates and Suwon Pay at Buk Suwon Market, with which they have a sisterhood tie, and had lunch.
A Suwon City official said, "We hope that Onnuri gift certificates and Suwon Pay will be actively used at traditional markets again this Lunar New Year," and urged, "Please use traditional markets to reduce the burden of grocery prices and join in revitalizing traditional markets."
