Park Yoon-kyu, the 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, "We will support the development of services based on super-large artificial intelligence (AI) in the medical field to provide convenience to the public, including the dissemination of innovative medical services."

On the 7th, Vice Minister Park held an on-site communication session at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jung-gu, Seoul, to integrate AI technology into the medical and psychological counseling fields.


The session was organized to share the latest AI technology trends and to listen to practical suggestions from experts necessary for the spread of AI in the medical and psychological counseling fields and for services that the public can directly experience.


The medical field is an area where AI convergence is actively progressing, and super-large AI is expected to innovate medical services due to its excellent ability to understand relationships between data.


The Ministry of Science and ICT plans to utilize super-large AI to help solve problems in fields such as pediatrics and adolescent medicine, which are facing difficulties due to a shortage of residents, and mental health, where the number of patients suffering from depression and anxiety disorders continues to increase.

The meeting included experts from related industries such as Professor Kim Heon-min of the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at Bundang Seoul National University Hospital, Professor Lee Young-ho of the Department of Computer Engineering at Gachon University, Kim Kyu-tae, CEO of Atomus, which operates a psychological counseling platform, Yoo Han-joo, leader at Naver Cloud, and Lee Jun-young, director at Kakao Healthcare.


Leader Yoo presented recent technology trends and application cases, and in the subsequent discussion, various policy ideas were discussed, including ways to improve medical staff work efficiency by utilizing super-large AI in the medical and psychological counseling fields, public services, and considerations when using medical data.


Vice Minister Park stated, "We will do our best to promote AI-based policies that can provide convenience to the public, including supporting the development of services based on super-large artificial intelligence in the medical field and the dissemination of innovative medical services."
