Gwanak-gu Community Facility 'Euncheonmaru' Opens on February 6... Community Facility 'Euncheonmaru' Contributes to Improving Residents' Quality of Life by Enhancing Access to Public Services... Establishing Effective Care Infrastructure for Infants and Lower Grade Elementary Students
The community facility 'Euncheon Maru' in Gwanak-gu opened its doors on February 6.
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) was selected in the 2019 Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Urban Regeneration New Deal Project competition and invested a total of 5 billion KRW to create 'Euncheon Maru,' a building with a total floor area of 453㎡, consisting of one basement floor and four above-ground floors.
On February 6, the district held the opening ceremony of Euncheon Maru and the inauguration ceremony of the Community Childcare Sharing Center simultaneously, attended by the mayor, facility stakeholders, and local residents.
Euncheon Maru serves as a community facility: the 1st, 3rd, and 4th floors are occupied by the Job Happiness Corporation, the 2nd floor houses the Community Childcare Sharing Center, and part of the 3rd floor is set up as a small library. It is planned to operate as a space for various activities such as leisure, culture, and welfare for local residents.
The Community Childcare Sharing Center Euncheon Branch, which opened alongside the Euncheon Maru inauguration, is scheduled to begin full operation on February 26. Having been selected last October in the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and Shinhan Financial Group’s social contribution cooperative project 'Support for Establishing Community Childcare Sharing Centers,' it received approximately 84 million KRW in funding to renovate the space.
The Community Childcare Sharing Center Euncheon Branch, with an area of 89㎡ (about 27 pyeong), is designed as a space where parents can gather to share childcare experiences and information, and where children can freely use toys and books. Additionally, family cooperative care and programs for parents and children will be conducted.
By providing care spaces for infants and elementary school students, it is expected to meet the demand for childcare services for students of Euncheon Elementary School and nearby elementary schools.
Furthermore, differentiated programs tailored to the characteristics of lower-grade elementary students will be operated in connection with the 'Gwanak-style Childcare Center I-rang.' For more details, please contact the Gwanak-gu Family Center.
Park Junhee, mayor of Gwanak-gu, said, "I hope Euncheon Maru will establish itself as a care space where local residents can improve their living environment and families and neighbors can communicate together, becoming a space that grows with Gwanak-gu." He added, "We will continue to do our best to build convenient living and childcare infrastructure for residents."
