Icheon City to Host 'Icheon Ceramic Festival' from April 25 to May 6

Budget Savings by Integrating with Small-Scale Events

Gyeonggi-do Icheon City announced on the 6th that it has decided to hold the 'Icheon Ceramic Festival,' which was originally considered to be held in the fall this year, for 12 days from April 25 to May 6 at the Icheon Ceramic Art Village.

The city initially considered holding the event in the fall to collaborate with the Gyeonggi World Ceramic Biennale, but decided to hold it in the spring as in previous years, considering that large festivals such as the Icheon Rice Festival, Peach Festival, and Ginseng Festival are concentrated in the fall. Instead, the city plans to integrate the Icheon Ceramic Festival with small-scale local events such as the Icheon Ceramic Culture Market, Icheon Experience Culture Festival, and Icheon World Culture Festival to create synergy effects and reduce the budget.

The city has set the theme of this year's Icheon Ceramic Festival as "Ceramics Blooming in Nature, Icheon Eco Ceramics" and plans to prepare it as an eco-friendly festival. To minimize disposable products and waste at the festival, the use of ceramic tableware will be encouraged in the food zones. Additionally, visitors who purchase ceramic cups will receive coffee in the cup, and if they bring household waste plastic, it will be exchanged for a ceramic purchase coupon.

Furthermore, the city is planning various programs such as "Wood-fired Bread Kiln Tasting" and "Treasure Hunting," where participants fill their shopping baskets with ceramics as much as they want.

Kim Kyung-hee, Mayor of Icheon City, said, "This year's Icheon Ceramic Festival will be an integrated festival that reduces the budget and prepares to be a great opportunity to increase visitor satisfaction."
