According to the county on the 6th, Governor Park Woo-ryang met with Assemblyman So Byung-chul (secretary of the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee) along with heads of local governments in Jeollanam-do on the 1st of last month to expedite the amendment of the law. On the 4th, he visited the National Assembly with Chairman Jo Jae-gu of the Korea Association of Mayors, Governors, and District Heads to emphasize the necessity of passing the bill and made active efforts to ensure its approval.

The current law explicitly prohibits fundraising methods through electronic transmission media such as text messages, and private gatherings such as hometown associations and alumni associations. However, following criticism that these restrictions on fundraising methods were excessive, the prohibition on fundraising via electronic transmission media and hometown and alumni associations was removed through the amendment.

Governor Park Woo-ryang said, “This amendment to the Hometown Love Donation Act is expected to play a significant role in spreading a culture of donation,” adding, “We will create a better tomorrow for Shinan by preserving the purpose of overcoming local extinction and revitalizing the regional economy.”
