Geumcheon-gu Opens 1,651 Parking Spaces Free During Seollal Holiday

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will open school parking lots (playgrounds) and public and private facility parking lots free of charge during the Lunar New Year holiday to alleviate parking inconveniences for local residents and returning visitors.

The opening period is from 9 a.m. on February 9, when the holiday begins, until 5 p.m. on February 12, the last day of the holiday.

Local residents and returning visitors can use a total of 1,651 parking spaces across 30 locations, including ▲ 279 spaces at 8 schools ▲ 350 spaces at 8 public parking lots ▲ 360 spaces at 3 public institutions ▲ 662 spaces at 11 private facilities such as churches and assembly buildings.

However, since opening times and locations may vary by facility, users should check the opening information on the Geumcheon-gu Office website under ‘Geumcheon News,’ the bulletin boards of local community centers, or banners posted at each facility before use.

Vehicles allowed to use the parking lots are limited to passenger cars and vans with up to 15 seats and cargo vehicles under 1 ton. This is to prevent safety accidents and damage to facilities.

Also, vehicle owners must leave at least two contact numbers on the front of their vehicles and must exit before the facility’s closing time (all private facilities close by 5 p.m. on February 12). Vehicles not removed after the opening hours will be towed.
