The People Power Party announced on the 5th that they have recruited Jin Jong-oh, the 'Shooting Emperor' and director of the Korea Sports Council, as a candidate for the general election.
On the same day, the party held a welcoming ceremony for new recruits at their Yeouido headquarters in Seoul and officially confirmed Jin's recruitment.
Han Dong-hoon, the Emergency Response Committee Chairman, said, "Many people in South Korea have watched Jin's matches not just as spectators but with emotional involvement," adding, "I am proud and honored that Jin's determination and will align with our People Power Party."
Yoon Jae-ok, the floor leader, also said, "Having Director Jin with us will be a great strength in this general election," and added, "We will do our best to ensure that we receive the people's choice together with Director Jin."

Director Jin said, "Having served as a national representative for the past 20 years, I have received much love and attention from all the people of South Korea, and now it is time for me to give back to you," adding, "I will strive to make South Korea a better country."
Jin started with the 2008 Beijing Olympics and won three consecutive gold medals in the Olympic pistol events at the 2012 London Olympics and the 2016 Rio Olympics. During his athletic career, he won four Olympic gold medals and two silver medals. In 2021, he was appointed as a director of the Korea Sports Council and served as the co-chairman of the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games Organizing Committee.
