Daegu Superintendent of Education Kang Eun-hee: "No Wage Delays for School Construction Before Seol"... Early Payment of 22 Billion Won for Construction Fees

Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education will make an early payment of 22 billion KRW in construction payments to alleviate financial difficulties of construction companies and revitalize the local economy ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.

Daegu Office of Education will first encourage early disbursement and execution of construction budgets provided to individual schools, and actively guide construction companies on the payment claim system, including progress payments, advance payments, and separate management of labor costs, to promote early claims of construction payments and complete payments before the Lunar New Year holiday.

Additionally, the Office of Education has conducted special guidance and inspections on all construction sites to prevent wage arrears by checking for unpaid wages to workers, subcontractor payments, and material and equipment payments, and has sent official letters to construction company representatives urging prevention of arrears.

Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education plans to not only issue corrective orders to companies found with wage arrears but also take legal action by reporting them to relevant authorities.

Superintendent Kang Eun-hee said, “I hope that the prompt payment of construction fees ahead of the Lunar New Year will help local companies manage their funds even a little, and that all on-site workers can enjoy a joyful and warm Lunar New Year holiday without any wage arrears.”
