Han Dong-hoon, the Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, reiterated that the 'Mega Seoul' plan is being pursued according to the wishes of local residents. He criticized Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, for deciding to maintain the semi-proportional representation electoral system for the upcoming April general election, calling it "not democracy."

On the morning of the 5th, Chairman Han stated at the People Power Party Emergency Response Committee meeting, "(The incorporation of Guri and Gimpo) is being done according to the wishes of local residents, and it is currently underway." He added, "In order to prepare this policy, in-depth discussions have been held both inside and outside the party, and a task force (TF) has even been launched to realize the policy." Furthermore, he said, "The Democratic Party should clearly state whether they oppose the active desire of citizens in Gimpo, Guri, and Hanam to be incorporated into Seoul."

Yoon Jae-ok, the floor leader of the People Power Party, also said, "The Democratic Party is creating misunderstandings that the 'Mega Seoul' plan goes against balanced national development," adding, "The People Power Party is pushing for bold measures such as relocating opportunity development zones and exempting inheritance tax for small and medium-sized enterprises to solve the fundamental cause of local extinction, which is the job problem, but I want to ask what creative solutions the Democratic Party has proposed."

He also responded to Lee’s criticism of the People Power Party’s general election pledges as "fraudulent." On the 2nd, Lee criticized at the Supreme Council meeting, "(Pledges such as integrated adjustment of telecommunication debts, credit forgiveness, and raising the deposit protection limit) were already discussed by us last year," adding, "Doesn't the government have the authority? They can do it now but are not doing it, and saying 'we will do it if you vote for us' is something ordinary fraudsters do."

Yu Eui-dong, the policy committee chairman of the People Power Party, said, "This should be directed not at the government and ruling party but rather at the floor leader of the Democratic Party," adding, "If Lee had faithfully implemented his promises to the public such as giving up immunity from arrest and banning satellite parties, our politics would have gained more public trust than now." Chairman Han also emphasized, "I want to ask whether Lee has kept more of what he said or broken more," adding, "I think he has broken more. Who is calling whom a fraudster?"

"Democratic Party should engage in negotiations regarding the postponement of the Serious Accident Punishment Act... Semi-proportional representation is complicated"

The People Power Party defined the Democratic Party’s refusal to postpone the Serious Accident Punishment Act as an act to gain support from the two major labor unions. Floor leader Yoon said, "Due to the refusal to postpone the Serious Accident Punishment Act, small business owners are crying out that they cannot operate their stores for fear of becoming criminals," adding, "The Democratic Party refused to postpone the Act because they judged it more advantageous to gain support from organizations like the two major labor unions rather than scattered companies and workers." He also urged, "If the Democratic Party cares even a little about the people, they should organize their stance and engage in negotiations regarding the postponement of the Serious Accident Punishment Act now," adding, "Otherwise, we will win the general election and definitely pass the bill to postpone the Act."

Chairman Han also criticized the maintenance of the semi-proportional representation electoral system. He pointed out, "The semi-proportional system is complicated, and the public cannot understand how their votes are used." Furthermore, he added, "Above all, why should the public focus on the decision of one person? This is not democracy," adding, "If we fail to judge this in the upcoming general election, the collapse of democracy will deepen as we will have to continue living under Lee’s watchful eye."
