Gyeonggi Province will provide an emergency fund of 100 million won to support recovery efforts for the fire damage at Seocheon Special Market in Chungnam, which occurred on the 22nd of last month.
On the 5th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it decided to use 100 million won from the disaster relief fund, which can be used for disaster relief support in other regions, to aid the merchants affected by the Seocheon Special Market fire.
Along with the emergency fund of 100 million won, Gyeonggi Province will also provide human and material support such as volunteer groups and relief supplies upon request from Chungnam Province and Seocheon County.
Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, said, "The merchants in Seocheon are deeply distressed amid an already difficult economic situation, and I hope that Gyeonggi Province's small gesture can be of some help." He promised, "Gyeonggi Province will mobilize all available human and material resources to assist in the swift recovery from the damage."
Previously, Gyeonggi Province has taken the lead in disaster relief both domestically and internationally, providing 100 million won for the Turkey earthquake in February last year and 200 million won for the Gangneung wildfire in March last year.
In September 2022, Gyeonggi Province signed a win-win cooperation agreement with Chungcheongnam-do, maintaining a friendly relationship.
