Ukraine Accelerates Production of 'Suicide Drones' to Strengthen Offensive Capabilities

As the war between Ukraine and Russia drags on, Ukraine has strengthened its offensive capabilities with self-produced suicide drones. This is interpreted as a response to the depletion of ammunition amid delayed Western weapons support.

According to foreign media on the 3rd (local time), Ukraine is accelerating production with the goal of manufacturing 1 million attack FPV (first-person view) drones within the year.

Unlike large-scale bombs or missile systems, attack drones are inexpensive. Additionally, parts are easy to obtain on the market, and the manufacturing process is simple.

Temporary drone factories, converted from unused warehouses or factories, have sprung up across Ukraine, producing thousands of FPV drones every month. These drones are sent to the front lines of the war, equipped with explosives, and used to attack Russian trenches or armored vehicles.

Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine's Minister of Digital Transformation, stated that production is accelerating to meet the goal of producing 1 million drones within the year, as proposed by President Volodymyr Zelensky at the end of last year. This target is more than 100 times the drone production volume of 2022.
