The Ministry of Science and ICT, which is exploring ways to make artificial intelligence (AI) technology a part of everyday life, recently met with companies leading K-Beauty.

On the 2nd, the Ministry of Science and ICT held the "3rd AI Everyday Life On-site Meeting" at Amorepacific, located in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, to discuss the use of AI in the beauty sector.


The beauty sector is expected to provide services to consumers such as diagnosing skin using AI, recommending cosmetics based on skin type, managing skin, and experiencing various products through virtual makeup trials.


This meeting was organized to gather field opinions from private experts on the spread of AI in the beauty sector, in response to the trend of creating an innovative ecosystem in the beauty field through the introduction of AI, including home beauty devices.


Participants included domestic beauty tech companies that attracted attention at CES 2024 such as Amorepacific, LG Household & Health Care, and APR, AI specialized companies like MaumAI, Imagine Factory, and Yangtr Reality, as well as industry experts from the Korea Cosmetic Association.


Youngjin Lee, Executive Director of Amorepacific, presented on the current technology status related to domestic beauty tech industry trends, and participants proposed innovative cases of AI technology adoption in the beauty sector and ways to revitalize the industry at the government level through discussions.


Yoon-kyu Park, 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, "We will do our best to promote related policies such as AI everyday life so that advanced industries and existing traditional industries can grow together and establish a foundation."
