Australian Women's Golf Big Open 1R Tied 61st Start
Return Match Since 2022 Hoban Seoul Newspaper Classic
Recorded 2 Birdies, 2 Bogeys, and 2 Double Bogeys
Yoon Ina has finally made her appearance.
On the 1st, at the Big Open (total prize money of 420,000 Australian dollars), part of the Australian Women's Professional Golf (WPGA) Tour held at the Barwon Heads St. Andrews Beach Golf Links Beach Course (par 72) in Victoria, Australia, she lost 4 strokes and tied for 61st place in the first round. Due to a decline in her playing form, she recorded 2 birdies, 2 bogeys, and 2 double bogeys. This is her first time participating in a major tour event since the Hoban Seoul Shinmun Women's Classic in July 2022. Yoon Ina finished 4th in the 2024 WPGA Qualifying Tournament (QT) last December, earning a 2024 season entry card awarded to the top 5 players.
Yoon Ina's participation in this tournament is unrelated to her domestic suspension. In June 2022, she was suspended for 3 years by both the Korea Golf Association and the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour for slow play at the Korean Women's Open. Both organizations reduced the suspension period to 1 year and 6 months, which will be lifted on March 19. Her domestic comeback is expected to be at the Doosan Construction Weave Championship (total prize money of 1.2 billion KRW) held on April 4 at Teddy Valley Golf & Resort in Seogwipo, Jeju.
Last year's winner of this tournament, Shin Ji-ae, is tied for 14th place (2 under par). Lee Il-hee and Yoon Min-ah are also in this group. Charis Davidson (Australia) is leading with 7 under par. The Big Open is divided into men's and women's divisions, playing 72-hole stroke play on the same course. The 1st and 2nd rounds alternate between the Creek Course (par 73) and the Beach Course, and the winner is decided on the Beach Course during the 3rd and 4th rounds.
