Every time warmth for underprivileged neighbors gathers, the mercury level of the 'Love Temperature Tower' rises, recording over 100 degrees in both Gwangju and Jeonnam regions.
According to the Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea on the 1st, 12.33 billion KRW was raised over 62 days from December 1st last year until the day before through the 'Hope 2024 Sharing Campaign.'
For every 1% of the target amount of 10.55 billion KRW collected, the mercury in the temperature tower rises by 1 degree, with the Jeonnam Love Temperature Tower reaching 116.6 degrees.
Individual donations accounted for 48.6% (about 5.977 billion KRW), and corporate donations accounted for 51.4% (about 6.325 billion KRW).
Cases that attracted attention included those who donated all the proceeds from selling empty bottles while going around villages daily or held flea markets to donate the profits.
In Gwangju as well, 5.53 billion KRW was raised, exceeding the target amount, with the mercury pointing to 109.3 degrees.
About 1,800 individual donors and 892 corporate donors participated.
