Sunchang-gun, Healing Experience Spot 'Swilland' Becomes a Hot Place

Suncheon-gun, Jeonbuk's healing experience destination, Shilland, is emerging as the county's representative hot place.

According to the county on the 1st, the total number of visitors to Suncheon Shilland in 2023 was about 16,000, an increase of approximately 22% compared to 13,000 in 2022.

The "Shill" in Shilland stands for "Sustainable Health In Life," including the meaning of "rest," representing a space for sustaining a healthy life. It is a healing experience destination located in the mountains at an altitude of 300 meters, about a 30-minute drive from Jeonju.

Once visited, many return annually to Suncheon Shilland, which operates various educational and rest programs year-round. It is an excellent place to practice well-aging, living healthily and happily beyond longevity.

In fact, a survey conducted last year among visitors showed that over 95% responded positively regarding their intention to revisit.

Among many programs, the most popular course is the "Shill-Day" healing experience program, where participants stay in hotel-style accommodations for one person and engage in healing meditation programs such as yoga, forest walking, aromatherapy, and horticultural therapy. It also includes healing food experiences to restore immunity and health lectures, which receive the highest response.

Customized programs are also offered according to age and characteristics, such as the Dongshim Playground for children and adolescents, corporate training for companies or institutions, life planning job training for principals nationwide for their second life planning, and Mini Med School with professors from Seoul National University College of Medicine. These programs receive numerous inquiries from many institutions every month.

Especially from this year, Shilland plans to play a significant role in protecting the health of Suncheon residents through new programs such as the "Immunity Up, Health Tour" course, which helps improve immunity through healing food and prevents arthritis using hot spring water, and the "Wellness Experience" utilizing the Shilland jjimjilbang (Korean sauna).

County Governor Choi Young-il said, "Since Suncheon Shilland is well-equipped with healing and relaxation infrastructure, we will continue to strive to become the nation's only healing training base institution." He added, "We will develop various programs to make it a popular destination visited by many experience seekers and contribute to revitalizing the local economy."

Meanwhile, those who want to participate in Shilland programs, which are transforming into a well-aging healing center that satisfies both mental and physical health and the five senses, can inquire at the Healing Training Team of the Health and Longevity Division, Suncheon County Office.
