Compared to other regions where the number of students is decreasing, Gwangsan-gu in Gwangju is experiencing overcrowding in high schools.

Although the establishment of Gwangsan High School was confirmed to alleviate the inconvenience of long-distance commuting, due to low birth rates, overcrowded classes are expected to naturally ease. Therefore, the focus has shifted to enhancing the quality of education by building the latest educational technologies and advanced education systems.

In connection with this, by establishing an AI Gifted High School and an AI Talent Education Incubating Center that researches and supports customized teaching methods suitable for the AI era, it is expected that youth will gain competitiveness through AI education while also contributing to job creation for local young people.

Additionally, measures to reduce educational disparities and strengthen character education were also explored. By introducing joint curricula through industry-academia-government cooperation?a regional win-win development ecosystem where local governments, companies, and universities collaborate to foster local industries, create jobs, and nurture talent?plans are in place to provide various education programs such as one-on-one matched education, experiential learning, and character education.

Candidate Choi believes that by preparing legislation to realize the national responsibility childcare system, not only will the advancement of infant care be promoted through quality childcare services and improved treatment of childcare teachers, but it will also serve as a foundation to solve the low birth rate problem.

Furthermore, the nationwide integrated education and care service called Neulbom School, which will be operated from 2025, will be implemented early in Gwangsan-gu. To address lunch provision during Neulbom School sessions held during vacations, cooperation with local restaurants will be established to provide meals, thereby reducing the burden and worries of parents.

Candidate Choi stated, “Nurturing a healthy future generation through educational innovation is the most valuable investment in preparing for the future. The reason why the whole village is needed to raise one child has been incorporated into the education policy,” conveying the significance.

Meanwhile, Candidate Choi is actively communicating with residents and working hard to solidify grassroots support as a preliminary candidate for the National Assembly in Gwangsan-gu (Eul). He has been recognized for his capabilities through various roles including special political advisor to presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung, administrative officer at the Blue House during the Moon Jae-in administration, policy advisor to the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, and director of the Gwangsan-gu Open Civil Service Office, gaining experience across local government, central government, and the Blue House.
