"Indoor space is a limited resource, so there is a need for optimization or efficient utilization. Acquiring movement data and analyzing and predicting it through artificial intelligence (AI) can be the answer."

Interest in space utilization is increasing. Especially in indoor spaces where expansion is impossible, efficient space allocation and location selection are linked to economic benefits. It is necessary to find crowded areas and utilize them, and sometimes disperse crowds. Shopping malls or underground parking lots are representative examples. Installing advertisements and opening stores where consumers gather affects corporate performance. Systems that inform real-time availability of empty parking spaces in underground parking lots and guide customers to less crowded areas reduce the effort and cost of management.

TJ Labs collects vast amounts of movement data with proprietary technology and proposes effective methods for utilizing indoor spaces through AI analysis. Taeckjin Lee, CEO of TJ Labs, explained, "The basic concept is not indoor location-based services using existing applications, but to prepare various forms of solutions for users of multiple space services and provide assistance based on them."

To provide solutions for specific spaces through AI, acquiring a vast amount of movement data is essential. Without data acquisition, AI training itself is impossible. To this end, TJ Labs devised PMS (Population Monitoring Service). PMS recognizes Bluetooth signals emitted from iOS smartphones and stores them as location data. Bluetooth signals are received in a randomly transformed form using indoor location recognition devices called Wards. Wards have the advantage of being easily installed anywhere as long as there is an electrical outlet. By installing only Wards, data such as the number of people per space, congestion level, dwell time, and movement paths can be collected through Bluetooth signals and classified by time and date.

Movement data is also acquired through ATS (Asset Tracking Service). Bluetooth signals received from tags are recognized by Wards to calculate location values. Location data of people, equipment, and objects with attached tags can be collected. Additionally, ATS allows real-time monitoring. Tags are attached to specific people or equipment, and location data is continuously received. In places where worker safety is critical, such as construction sites, factories, and power plants, safety accident management is possible. In case of an accident, workers’ locations can be quickly found in real time, and altitude changes can be detected to confirm falls.

TJ Labs also possesses FLS (Fine Location Service) technology, which extracts data by recognizing smartphone location data sent through the installation of an app developed by TJ Labs. By obtaining data through app installation, more precise location values can be secured.

In the past, location data acquired through PMS, ATS, and FLS was only provided to partner companies. However, since the second half of last year, TJ Labs has developed an independent AI model called 'Spatial AI' that learns movement data and provides solutions. Also called DeepSpace, Spatial AI learns vast amounts of movement data collected through excellent indoor positioning technology and suggests locations and movement paths that can achieve the highest efficiency in specific indoor spaces. It provides AI analysis-based solutions such as changes in customer movement when store locations are changed in commercial facilities like department stores and the most effective ways to disperse crowds when they gather.

TJ Labs aims to expand overseas based on this. Due to the limitations of indoor space expansion, it is seeking expansion abroad beyond collaboration with domestic partner companies. TJ Labs also participated in CES 2024, the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition held in the United States last month.

CEO Taeckjin Lee said, "We were able to confirm overseas companies’ needs for Spatial AI," adding, "The core of infrastructure is to spread widely and affordably, so we will ensure that countless people benefit from our technology."
