Fire at an Apartment in Changwon... Octogenarian Resident Seriously Injured, 10 Suffer Smoke Inhalation

A fire broke out in an apartment in Masanhappo-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongnam.

A fire broke out on the 13th floor of a 19-story apartment building in Jungang-dong, Masanhappo-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongnam, at around 7:06 a.m. on the 1st.

According to the Changwon Fire Headquarters, an man in his 80s living in the apartment suffered serious injuries, and 10 others, including residents from other floors and a security guard, were hospitalized after inhaling smoke.

Fire authorities, who responded to the security guard's report, conducted rescue operations for the residents and extinguished the fire by around 7:27 a.m.

A total of 44 personnel from fire and police departments and 16 firefighting vehicles were deployed at the scene.

The police and fire authorities are currently investigating the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
