The experience of chatting one-on-one with artists through ‘Bubble’ will now be available on KakaoTalk Gift.
Global fan platform company DearU announced on the 1st that it will start selling ‘Bubble’ subscription tickets within ‘KakaoTalk Gift’ next week to enhance subscription convenience and product accessibility.
This business collaboration with KakaoTalk Gift is expected to be a strategic move to expand the teenage subscriber base. Compared to the in-app payment process through the app store, KakaoTalk Gift allows teenagers without credit cards in their name to easily link their bank accounts for payment. Teenagers who previously had to rely on their parents for credit card linkage can now receive Bubble subscription tickets as gifts not only from their parents but also from relatives and friends, allowing them to continue their Bubble subscriptions. In particular, this plan aims to spread the trend of gifting the daily lives of favorite artists among Generation Z, who place a significant emphasis on fandom activities, also known as ‘deokjil’, in their everyday lives.
A company representative stated, “Just like gifting photo cards of a favorite artist, Bubble subscription tickets will be the best birthday gift in 2024 that you can give to friends or children.”
They explained, “The accessibility of KakaoTalk Gift creates a structure where light fandoms can also join,” and expressed expectations that “it will be a great opportunity for light fandoms to transition into core fandoms.” Currently, subscribing to one artist costs 4,500 KRW per month, but if multiple subscription tickets are gifted, it is possible to analyze subscriptions not only to favorites but also to other artists of interest.
This entry into KakaoTalk Gift marks the first collaboration case since DearU joined the Kakao group, and various business collaborations with the Kakao group are anticipated to bring differentiation to DearU’s fan platform.
If you want to gift or purchase an artist’s Bubble subscription ticket on ‘KakaoTalk Gift’, simply search for ‘DearU’ or ‘Bubble’ on the KakaoTalk Gift page. The product that DearU has newly launched and started selling on KakaoTalk Gift is a 1-month subscription ticket, and they announced that long-term subscriptions such as 6-month tickets will be introduced later. The sale of long-term subscriptions is expected to contribute to increasing subscription retention rates.
Meanwhile, last February, DearU introduced the local payment system ‘WeChat Pay’ to expand the influx of Chinese Android users.
