"Thawing the Hearts of Frozen Party Members"
As debates continue within the party on how to utilize former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min, who decided to remain in the People Power Party, former Supreme Council member Jang Ye-chan stated, "Rather than waiting to be given a flower carriage ride, it is necessary to show the determination or attitude to dedicate oneself to the party."
On the 1st, former Supreme Council member Jang appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and said, "Instead of former lawmaker Yoo waiting in the party for a red carpet or a flower carriage ride, saying 'Come to me with a good offer,' he should first show the determination or attitude to dedicate himself to the party. To melt the frozen hearts of party members, he needs to show a proactive attitude first," he emphasized.
He added, "It is true that many of our party members have closed their hearts to former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min. If he comes forward, saying he will burn himself out for the People Power Party one last time, whether in difficult places or anywhere else, the party leadership and even the members with closed hearts might open their minds."
Regarding the controversy over Han Dong-hoon, the emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, and accusations of favoritism in candidate selection, he pointed out, "It is not always the best to have an unconditional primary election for all nominations. If that happens, incumbent lawmakers or party district chiefs become lawmakers forever and candidates. There will be no room for relatively fresh or strategic figures to break in."
He continued, "In line with the overall election concept, strategic nominations, single-candidate nominations, and strong repeated persuasion by the leadership are necessary. If these are well attempted in the right places, I believe it will contribute not only to the respective constituencies but also to the overall success of the general election," he said.
