Full-scale Promotion of 'Baedari Life Culture Center' in Jukbaek-dong, Pyeongtaek

Complex Cultural Space with Swimming Pool, Performance Hall, and Exhibition Center
Pyeongtaek City to Complete Detailed Design within the Year... Construction Scheduled for 2026

Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province is set to actively promote the construction of the 'Baedari Life Culture Center (tentative name),' a complex cultural space equipped with a swimming pool and performance hall in Jukbaek-dong. The city plans to proceed with detailed design and other preparations, aiming to start construction in 2026 and complete it in 2027.

On the 31st, Pyeongtaek City announced that it will invest a total budget of 49.5 billion KRW to promote the construction project of the 'Baedari Life Culture Center' this year in the area around 797 Jukbaek-dong, near Baedari Library.

The Baedari Life Culture Center will be a complex cultural space built with one basement floor and two above-ground floors, featuring a swimming pool with eight lanes each 25 meters long, as well as a performance hall and exhibition hall. The city plans to cover the entire construction cost solely with municipal funds without any external support.

Currently, the city has completed administrative procedures including the basic architectural concept service, public property review, and Gyeonggi Province investment review. Once the ongoing architectural planning service is completed, the city plans to start detailed design within the year and begin construction in 2026. The goal is to open in 2027.

The city expects that once the center is completed, it will help distribute the demand for the saturated Sosabeol Sports Town swimming pool and satisfy the leisure needs of nearby residents. The performance hall and exhibition hall will also be used for various purposes such as small performances by local residents, activities of various clubs, and school exhibitions.

Meanwhile, besides the Baedari Life Culture Center, Pyeongtaek City is also promoting the construction of a complex cultural center equipped with a swimming pool and library in the Wonjeong-ri area of Poseung-eup.

Jung Jang-seon, mayor of Pyeongtaek City, said, "The Baedari Life Culture Center is a project that many citizens are interested in," adding, "We will create an environment where culture and sports can be fully enjoyed locally through prompt project promotion."
