Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced on the 31st that it has appointed trot fairy Kim Dahyun as the nation’s first promotional ambassador for the E.T Baseball Team for youth with developmental disabilities, and will accelerate efforts to continue the hometown love fund project this year.
Singer Kim Dahyun built her connection with Gwangju by studying pansori under master singer Park Bokhee in Gwangju for over five years starting at the age of seven. After debuting with the single album "Kkotcheonyeo" in September 2020, she showed her special affection for Dong-gu, Gwangju by releasing the song "Mudeungsan" in 2022, which expresses her love for Mudeungsan Mountain. Recently, she has been actively participating in the competition program "MBN Hyeonyeok Gawang," which airs every Tuesday at 9:10 PM.
Kim Dahyun, who has always been interested in supporting vulnerable groups and social contribution activities, decided to serve as the promotional ambassador for the Gwangju Dong-gu E.T Baseball Team to encourage the dreams of her peers after learning about the team. She generously donated 2 million won from her hometown love donation fund.
Kim Dahyun said, "I hope that the nation’s only 'E.T Baseball Team,' composed of people with disabilities, continues to thrive so that their passion for baseball and precious dreams can gradually ripen and blossom. I wish that my small donation becomes hope for people with disabilities who are nurturing their dreams and leads to many others’ precious acts of love, so that the 'E.T Baseball Team' will continue to achieve great success."
Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, "We deeply thank Kim Dahyun for showing interest in the E.T Baseball Team fund project, serving as a promotional ambassador, and expressing her heart through a generous donation. We will do our best to use the collected donations transparently so that the dreams of the E.T Baseball Team can continue."
