The Namwon City Kim Byung-jong Art Museum in Jeonbuk has been finally selected for the ‘2024 Small but Strong Potential Tourism Site Discovery and Development Project’ organized by the Jeonbuk branch of the Korea Tourism Organization.

According to the city on the 31st, the Small but Strong Potential Tourism Site Development Project is a joint cooperation project between local governments and the Korea Tourism Organization aimed at discovering tourist sites with high growth potential and unique charm to promote balanced regional tourism development.

A project budget of 150 million KRW from the Korea Tourism Organization will be provided, and plans include big data analysis of Namwon’s major tourist attractions, preliminary consulting for promotional marketing, multi-channel online and offline promotional marketing, and travel product development.

Opened in March 2018, the Namwon City Kim Byung-jong Art Museum is a countryside-style art museum surrounded by forest, serving as a complex cultural space where visitors can appreciate not only artworks but also nature and find mental healing.

In December last year, the Edu Center ‘Kong,’ an art education and experience space, was opened.

The Namwon City Kim Byung-jong Art Museum was selected for the ‘2021-2022 Korea Tourism 100’ organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

With this additional selection in the Small but Strong Potential Tourism Site contest, Namwon City and the Jeonbuk branch of the Korea Tourism Organization plan to sign a business agreement and carry out various promotional marketing efforts to help the museum become a representative tourist destination in the Jeonbuk region.

Mayor Choi Kyung-sik said, “The Namwon City Kim Byung-jong Art Museum is expected to become a global art city,” adding, “I am very honored that the museum was selected as a Small but Strong Potential Tourism Site.”

He continued, “We will do our best to make it a new domestic tourist attraction through close cooperation with the Korea Tourism Organization.”
