Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 31st that it has secured 24.9 billion KRW in national and provincial funds for a total of 19 districts this year through rural village sewage system improvement projects and sewage pipeline maintenance projects, and is accelerating the project implementation.
Among these, 16 districts are ongoing projects, and 3 districts are new projects for 2024.
The new projects include the installation of 6.2 km of sewage pipelines in the Songji Yeongpyeong district and drainage facilities for 103 households. Additionally, 12.1 km of aging sewage pipelines will be repaired in Haenam-eup and four other locations, and in the Hyonsan Gusan, Hwangsan Jingui, and Okcheon Mago districts, projects will be carried out to build sewage treatment facilities with a capacity of 120㎡ per day, 10.91 km of sewage pipelines, and drainage facilities for 506 households.
The new projects are scheduled to be carried out from 2024 to 2026, with basic and detailed design services currently underway.
This year, the sewage pipeline maintenance projects in Sinan-ri, Haenam-eup, and Nandae district, Munnae will be completed, and three rural village sewage system projects in Hyonsan Sinbang, Bukpyeong Seohong, and Bukpyeong Waryong are expected to be completed, benefiting a total of 10 villages and 902 households with improved living environments.
A county official stated, “Haenam-gun faces difficulties in establishing a basic sewage system maintenance plan due to the scattered nature of the villages, but through frequent visits to the National Assembly and central government ministries, we have been able to secure national budget funding and focus on advancing the projects. Since these projects will be carried out over multiple years, we ask for the understanding and active cooperation of the residents, and we will continue to strive to expand sewage treatment facilities that play a significant role in improving the quality of life for residents.”
