The Gyeongnam Election Commission announced on the 31st that it has reported six individuals, including preliminary candidate A and close associates, to the prosecution for violating the Public Official Election Act in the 22nd National Assembly election.
According to the provincial election commission, they are accused of creating an illegal election campaign organization called ‘○○ Research Institute’ and its subordinate organizations, and making donations exceeding membership fees in the form of food and gift certificates to 47 constituents who attended the year-end party last year.
The provincial election commission reported them to the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office on the 22nd, stating that they formed a private organization for A’s election campaign and used the year-end party to make donations.
Under the Public Official Election Act, candidates, those intending to become candidates, and their spouses are prohibited from making donations to constituents, related persons, institutions, organizations, or facilities in the electoral district, or from mediating or requesting donations through third parties.
It is also specified that candidates, those intending to become candidates, or their affiliated political parties cannot make or cause donations to be made.

Earlier, the Central Election Commission announced on the 26th that there were 110 violations related to the 22nd general election as of that date, including 12 reports to the prosecution, 1 request for investigation, and 97 measures such as warnings.
