Additional 12 Billion Won Issued for Pohang Sarang Card on the 1st, 10% Special Discount Sale Underway
Monthly Personal Purchase Limit Raised to 400,000 Won, Card Holding Limit Increased to 1 Million Won
Pohang City will issue 12 billion KRW worth of Pohang Sarang gift certificates in card and mobile formats in February and conduct a 10% special discount sale.
The city aims to quickly recover the local economy, which is struggling due to high interest rates and inflation, and ease the financial burden on citizens by issuing an additional 12 billion KRW of Pohang Sarang cards in February following the 30 billion KRW issuance in January, offering a 10% special discount sale.
The individual purchase limit is 400,000 KRW per month, and the card holding limit has been raised from the previous 700,000 KRW to 1,000,000 KRW to stimulate local consumption during the Lunar New Year holiday and support increased sales for small business owners.
It is convenient to check the card balance in advance on the mobile app (IM#) before charging, and the event will automatically end when the budget is exhausted. However, paper-type certificates will not be sold in this event.
Pohang Sarang cards can be charged from 12:15 AM daily on the mobile app (IM#), and at 104 sales agency locations, Daegu Bank ATMs (49 locations), and self-service counters during business hours.
Financial institutions acting as sales agents, such as Daegu Bank, NongHyup, Suhyup, Saemaeul Geumgo, ShinHyup, and the Korea Forest Service Cooperative, can be confirmed on the Pohang Sarang gift certificate website.
Pohang Sarang gift certificates can be used at about 20,000 affiliated stores including restaurants, retail, and service industries. Small business owners registered as affiliated stores benefit from increased sales due to more consumer visits and reduced fees for card affiliation.
Small business owners wishing to register as Pohang Sarang gift certificate affiliated stores can apply through the city hall website, the Economic and Labor Division of city hall, or the Eup/Myeon/Dong administrative welfare centers.
Registration as an affiliated store is restricted for large-scale stores, semi-large-scale stores, entertainment and karaoke bars, gambling industries, directly operated stores of corporate businesses not headquartered in Pohang, and businesses with annual sales exceeding 3 billion KRW based on ownership.
Mayor Lee Kang-deok said, “We hope that Pohang Sarang gift certificates will revitalize the local commercial districts, restore the livelihood economy, and support citizens’ household finances. We wish all local small business owners and citizens a warm and prosperous Lunar New Year holiday.”
Pohang City plans to play a key role in revitalizing the local economy by issuing a total of 200 billion KRW this year, starting with the 10% special discount sale for the Lunar New Year and continuing with a regular 7% discount sale every month.
