Megabox’s ‘Original Ticket’ has reached its 100th edition, establishing itself as the first signature merchandise in theaters. Megabox announced on the 31st the key records from the past four and a half years to celebrate the 100th Original Ticket. As theater signature goods become a new standard for movie viewing, the company aims to present the future direction for films and theaters.

From ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ to No. 100 ‘Wongka’... 132 ‘Original Tickets’ Created

Megabox’s ‘Original Ticket’ proposes a way to ‘cherish movies best’ beyond just watching them. It is the first signature merchandise in domestic theaters that is film-centric and aligns with the creative intent. As movie-watching habits have shifted online and the culture of collecting past tickets to preserve memories faded, the ‘Original Ticket’ was launched as a meaningful item to keep films. Starting with the movie ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ in July 2019, a total of 132 ‘Original Tickets’ have been produced over more than four and a half years, covering 29 domestic and 103 overseas titles, culminating in the 100th Original Ticket ‘Wongka’ released today.


The popularity of Megabox’s ‘Original Ticket’ has steadily increased, distributing 13 tickets in 2019, 16 in 2020, 32 in 2021, 25 in 2022, and 43 in 2023. The types of Original Tickets have also diversified: new releases receive official numbering, re-releases are issued with a ‘Re.’ prefix, and works that received great audience love or hold special significance are marked with ‘Special’ numbering. To date, there are 100 officially numbered Original Tickets, 22 re-release tickets, and 10 special edition tickets.

Although the ‘Original Ticket’ is a giveaway item provided free to viewers rather than sold separately, its production undergoes an uncompromising process. Megabox carefully considers the film’s message, items, visual originality, and sensory feel during the ideation phase.

Among the 132 Original Tickets, the highest production cost was recorded for the horror film ‘The Shining,’ re-released in June last year. The ‘Re. 18 The Shining’ Original Ticket consists of a ticket featuring the hotel door from the film, a wrapping typing paper, and a red acrylic keyholder ticket resembling the key to Room 237 in the movie.


The 100th Original Ticket ‘Wongka’, the ‘Confidential’ ticket replicating the movie’s document envelope, the three-dimensional card design of ‘Baby Dinosaur Dooly: Ice Star Adventure Remastering’, and the cruise boarding pass-inspired ‘Triangle of Sadness’ Original Ticket followed. Megabox’s ‘Original Tickets’ are first revealed on official social media. The ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’ Original Ticket, released for Megabox’s exclusive re-release in May 2021, garnered the highest response from netizens and became a hot topic.
