China's manufacturing sector has not escaped the contraction phase for four consecutive months.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics of China on the 31st, China's January Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) was recorded at 49.2, slightly below the forecast of 49.3.
The PMI statistic, which surveys purchasing managers of companies about the economy, is an indicator showing the economic trend in the related sector. A value above 50 indicates economic expansion, while below 50 indicates a contraction phase.
