GC Green Cross Launches 'Joint Muco Polysaccharide Protein' to Support Joint and Cartilage Health

GC Green Cross announced on the 31st that it has launched a health functional food product, 'Joint Mucopolysaccharide Protein (Chondroitin) 1200,' which may help support joint and cartilage health.

This newly launched product is a health functional food containing 1200 mg of mucopolysaccharide protein (chondroitin). Mucopolysaccharide protein is a functional ingredient that may aid joints and cartilage, referring to a group of polysaccharides containing amino sugars distributed in the form of animal tissue-derived or protein complexes. It is a cartilage tissue component recognized by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for joint and cartilage health functionality, allowing supplementation of chondroitin sulfate through intake.

Chondroitin is a component widely distributed in connective tissues such as cartilage, bones, and cornea, and is the main component of elastic fibers that protect cartilage. It supplies nutrients to cartilage and reduces friction, thereby slowing the wear rate of joints. In particular, GC Green Cross's Joint Mucopolysaccharide Protein 1200 (Chondroitin) uses bovine cartilage chondroitin, which has the same structure as human cartilage.

The company explained that through human application tests, it was confirmed that taking cartilage extract containing mucopolysaccharide protein for three months significantly reduced the indices of 'knee joint pain' and 'evaluation of joint discomfort and pain levels.'
