Free Carrot 'Nanum' Surpasses 13.34 Million Cases Last Year... 30% Increase Compared to Previous Year
Carrot announced on the 31st that the region with the most 'sharing' posts, where neighbors freely share items, last year was Mulgeum-eup, Yangsan-si, Gyeongnam. This area was selected as the region with the most sharing posts for two consecutive years. Following were Songdo-dong, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon; Baebang-eup, Asan-si, Chungnam; Jeonggwan-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan; Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu, Seoul; Buldang-dong, Seobuk-gu, Cheonan-si, Chungnam; Bongdam-eup, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi; Dasa-eup, Dalseong-gun, Daegu; Hwado-eup, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi; and Mangwol-dong, Hanam-si, Gyeonggi, in order of high sharing activity frequency.
Carrot explained that it is recognized as 'the app you must open first when moving,' and sharing of furniture, interior, daily necessities, kitchenware, and home appliances was actively carried out based on areas with many new towns or households moving in or relocating. In fact, Mangwol-dong, Hanam-si, Gyeonggi, which ranked 10th this time, showed higher sharing activity of furniture and interior items compared to other regions due to an increase in young newlywed couples moving in.
Last year, sharing among neighbors on Carrot exceeded 13.34 million cases, increasing by more than 30% compared to the previous year. Sharing, which was only about 1,200 cases in 2016, reached 4.03 million cases in 2021 and 10 million cases in 2022.
The category with the highest sharing frequency nationwide was 'infants and children.' Toys or children's books that were no longer needed for rapidly growing children found new owners the most. Kim Gyeol, team leader of Carrot's secondhand trading office, said, “Small sharing acts that start from neighbors' kind and voluntary hearts are spreading nationwide, continuously creating a virtuous cycle of resource reuse and positive influence,” and added, “We hope many neighbors will continue to experience the warmth and joy of sharing with Carrot.”
