B2N Establishes XOOX Korea Corporation... Launches Global Promotion of Petconomy Market

AI and big data specialist company B2N (CEO Taeil An) is partnering with U.S. pet service company XOOX LAB Inc. to launch a global promotional campaign targeting the pet economy market.

B2N announced on the 31st that it will begin a large-scale global promotion targeting the pet economy market in collaboration with U.S.-based XOOX LAB Inc., the developer of the pet-exclusive app "XOOX."

This challenge will be co-hosted with a domestic social enterprise dedicated to rescuing companion animals and will take place in mid-next month with the purpose of rescuing abandoned pets and facilitating the adoption of stray animals.

A B2N representative stated, "As the abandonment of pets continues to rise, we must all recognize that this is a clear act of cruelty," adding, "The goal of this challenge is to expand awareness not only domestically but globally."

In fact, the number of abandoned animals in Korea has shown a clear increase over the past seven years. According to a paper titled "Analysis and Improvement Measures of Domestic Abandoned Animals" published last year, the number of abandoned animals surged from 82,100 in 2015 to 118,273 in 2021. Among these, dogs accounted for the largest share at 71.6%, while cats made up 27.1%.

Furthermore, the adoption rate of abandoned dogs has been decreasing annually. Currently, domestic policies for rescuing abandoned animals typically involve local governments sheltering the animals for about 10 to 20 days; if the owners do not come forward, most animals are euthanized. In 2021, out of 18,604 animals in shelters, 17,217 dogs were euthanized.

A B2N representative said, "The newly established 'XOOX korea' will begin rescuing abandoned pets to address this euthanasia issue," and added, "We plan to carry out various activities aimed at pursuing the happiness of companion animals and establishing an organic, complementary culture between abandoned animals and humans."
